Three Key Takeaways from Innovation Day 2024

Recapping Innovation Day 2024

Our second annual OnBase Camp Innovation Day event launched on May 2, and with over 200 attendees, we sure made the most of the afternoon. Throughout the event, there were multiple OnBase success stories from migrating department data and processes to OnBase, creating workflows to increase revenue or decrease manual procedures, the why behind the decision to move to cloud hosting, and more.

As the virtual host for the event, I had a great time hosting our virtual attendees from across the country. Here were some of the top takeaways and learnings from the day:

1. The time is now to activate your data by structuring it, and AI can help

Within DataBank CEO Matt Charlson’s keynote, he noted 90% of data is unstructured with no predefined data model or format, making it unwieldy, disorganized, and unusable. And unstructured data grows three times faster than structured data, making tackling this issue daunting. Offerings like generative AI and automation will be crucial to untangling the web that is unstructured data in years to come.

2. OnBase teams are investing in end-user experience to ensure acceptance of processes and system ROI.

Many of the sessions at OnBase Camp Innovation Day discussed the crucial point of ensuring end-user satisfaction with their OnBase processes.

As the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality noted in their session, an OnBase migration allowed them to regulate and standardize processes to make it easier for end-users to use the system. From approvals and comments, each person had the same process and user experience became consistent across their department.

3. Regardless of industry, the goals for OnBase processes, implementation, and optimizations remain the same: Time, compliance, accuracy, and money.

 Time:

  • City and County of San Francisco decreased their permit completion review process times from 15 business days to 5 business days.

Compliance:

  • New Mexico Human Services Department boasts 311 valid document types within its OnBase system to ensure accurate filing.

Accuracy:

  • With its new permit workflow, the City and County of San Francisco is averaging 60% completion of permits due to the improved process.

Money:

  • CompuNet has increased its revenue capture rate and can focus on more important initiatives via total cost avoidance.

Innovation Day 2024 only scratched the surface of what organizations are doing in OnBase to better their organizations and customers and constituents they serve. You can discover all the sessions from Innovation Day 2024 here.
